Q&A with BA Paris Best Selling Author of Behind Closed Doors, Breakdown and coming in June 2018, Bring Me Back!

B A Paris Author Bio…

B A Paris is the internationally bestselling author of Behind Closed Doors and The Breakdown. Having sold over one million copies in the UK alone, she is a New York Times bestseller as well as a number one bestseller on Amazon and iBooks. Her books have sold in 37 territories around the world. Having lived in France for many years, she recently moved back to the UK, and has five daughters.

Q ~ Were there any specific people in your life that inspired the personalities of the villans in your stories? (specifically Jack from Behind Closed Doors and Matthew from The Breakdown)?

A ~ No, thank goodness! They were both products of my imagination.

Q ~ Would you rather write on a quiet desolate frozen mountain top drinking hot coca by the crackling fire, or a tropical island under an umbrella with a frozen drink?

A ~ Definitely the mountain with the crackling fire and hot chocolate. I love the sun but not too much of it.

Q ~ What were your daughters reactions to your books?

A ~ They couldnt believe I could write something so menacing, with such evil characters. I think theyre a little worried about what goes on in my mind!

Q ~ Describe what you were feeling at the moment when you saw your books on a bookstore shelf for the first time.

A ~ Complete disbelief that I had actually achieved my dream. It was the day BCD was published. I was with one of my daughters and we walked into WHS Holborn and there it was, on a shelf. It was the most amazing feeling.

Q ~ What was the most unusual time and place that an idea for a story or character dawned on you?

A ~ Sitting in the car outside the toilet block at a motorway picnic area in France. It was deserted apart from a couple of lorries and I wondered what would happen if my husband came back and found me gone. Its the basis of Bring Me Back and is the opening scene.

Q ~ Can you describe one of the best memories you have as an educator that you will not forget?

A ~ Walking into a classroom for the first time and seeing all these faces looking expectantly at me. I knew then that I was going to love teaching.

Q ~ What food do you despise that many people love?

A ~ Oysters. When I worked in Finance, I was taken out to dinner by a client who insisted I try one. I had to spit it into my napkin.

Q ~ As we understand it, the idea for the Breakdown was inspired from an actual experience you had when you broke down during a storm in the woods…have you had any other experiences like this that have triggered ideas? If not, where you do draw your inspiration from?

A ~ I didnt actually break down, but I was driving through some woods during a storm and wondered what would happen if I did break down, or if I came across someone who had broken down. Then there was the toilet block/picnic area moment in France, which resulted in BMB.

Q ~ Describe your favorite rainy day activity.

A ~ Sitting in front of a log fire with a blanket and a book.

Q ~ What do you want your fans to know most about you?

A ~ Where I get my ideas!
