The Sleepwalker by Chris Bohjalian πŸ“š @vintagebooks @chrisbohjalian ~ Publication Day 10-3-2017 πŸ“š

“Sometimes I believe we would all be better off if we always treated people like this was the last time we were ever going to see them”.

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

The New York Times bestselling author’s most spine-tingling novel yet–the mesmerizing story of a wife and mother who vanishes from her bed one night and the daughter determined to find her.

Gorgeous, blond, successful, living in a beautiful Victorian home in a Vermont village, Annalee Ahlberg has another side: at night she sleepwalks, and her affliction manifests in ways both devastating and bizarre. A search party combs the woods, but there is little trace of Annalee and her family fears the worst. Her daughter Lianna leaves college to care for her father and younger sister. She finds herself uncontrollably drawn to Gavin Rikert, the hazel-eyed detective investigating the case, and the two become involved. But Gavin seems to know more about Lianna’s mother than he should. As Lianna sifts through the life Annalee has left behind, she wonders if the man sleeping next to her could hold the key to her mother’s mysterious disappearance.

Holy Moly! How do you do it Chris Bohjalian? You are a “shock ending, plot twisting, character building” genius! Your ability to leave the reader hanging until the end is top notch! We read hundreds and hundreds of suspense books every year and we can separate them into two piles… (the books that truly leave our jaw on the ground long after the last page is turned, and books that we have figured out the ending to long before the last chapter) and The Sleepwalker is no different than the other books we have read by Chris Bohjalian!

What we loved about this book was how we were left wondering what really happened to Lianna’s mother that night that she disappeared and everyone assumed her vanishing had to do with her sleepwalking. Lianna rests at nothing in order to get to the bottom of it. She walks in her mother’s footsteps, befriends the people her mother befriended, follows leads from community members and follows up on rumors that she has heard. But I am confident that what she does find out about her mother’s disappearance will shock you thus… leaving your jaw on the floor! I just love books like that!

If you are a fan of Chris Bohjalian books, don’t leave this one off your list!
