A Mother’s Goodbye by Kate Hewitt ~ Publication day 6/13/18 ~ @bookouture @katehewitt1 ❤️

‘My arms ache with the need to reach and hold my precious child, and then to never let go. But I can’t. I know I can’t.’

Heather is devastated. There’s no way she can keep her baby. She can barely pay the bills as it is. But when she meets Grace, a wealthy, single career woman, who wants a baby more than anything, Heather believes she has found the perfect adoptive mother.

As Grace and Heather’s lives become entwined, they are tested to breaking point, though neither can deny the other’s love for the child. But just when they think they are learning how to live with each other, they receive devastating news that turns their fragile world upside down.

Will either mother know what is the right thing to do for the child they both love?

An absolutely gripping, emotional drama with a tear-jerking twist. If you love Jodi Picoult, Kelly Rimmer or Diane Chamberlain, this will warm your heart, make you cry, and stay with you forever.

This is a heart-wrenching account of a mother’s unconditional love, an unwavering act of selflessness, and the extreme heartbreak of loss and finality.

While the urge to review this book as being the saddest book I’ve ever read is tempting and not completely off, I refrain from doing so because even bigger than the sadness of it all, is the underlying beauty of it all!

If you are a mom, you will bond with these characters on an even more emotional level. Heather’s decision to put her 4th child up for adoption was a decision made out of pure love for him as well as the rest of her family. She knew she couldn’t provide for him the way he deserved. It took every fiber of her being to remain in contact with him after she hand picked Grace to be his adoptive mother. Grace, a very financially stable single woman with tons of love to share took Heather’s baby with open arms. Heather manages visits once a month but they were awkward and forced. But it truly amazes me that we often don’t know why things happen sometimes until we look back and say “thank God They did” .

I wilL NOT spoil the rest of this story but it is really too beautiful for any other words. I will just finish by saying… BUY IT, READ IT, PAY IT FORWARD! Thank you Bookouture, Netgalley, and the wonderfully talented Kate Hewitt for giving us this ARC to review! We are forever fans of your writing!

Kate was born in Pennsylvania, went to college in Vermont, and has spent summers in the Canadian wilderness. After several years as a diehard New Yorker, she now lives in a small market town in Wales with her husband, five young children, and an overly affectionate Golden Retriever.
