Ten years ago he killed my son. Today I married him.
Ten years ago my darling son Jesse was murdered and our perfect family was destroyed. My strong, handsome boy, so full of life, became a memory, a photo I carried with me everywhere.
But today I’m finally close to finding happiness again. My ash-blonde hair has been curled into ringlets. Carefully placed white flowers frame my delicate features. The small, drab chapel has been prettied up with white satin, and there are tiny red hearts scattered on the small table where I will soon sign the register with my new husband.
The man who killed my son.
My friends and family can’t understand it. My neighbours whisper in the street whenever I walk past. How can I love a man like Tom?
They don’t really know me at all…
The most unputdownable psychological thriller you’ll read this year from the bestselling author K.L. Slater. If you love The Wife Between Us or Gone Girl, you’ll be totally hooked on The Marriage.

Here’s what Mary has to say…
I have read many K.L. Slater books. As a matter of fact, K.L. Slater is one of the first Bookouture authors that convinced me… you can’t go wrong with choosing a book published by Bookouture. She is brilliant! Any author that begins her story with “Ten years ago he killed my son. Today I married him”… and then follows it up with an intricately woven plot that keeps you turning pages furiously into the night, is a bloody brilliant author! The best thing about this books is that readers will most likely think… “oh this is predictable yet, I can’t stop reading” only to find out they had NO idea what was happening. Slater does a masterful job at creating a cast of characters that are deeply troubled and layered. She reveals the plot twists at just the right time and gives readers just enough information to keep them wanting more! I loved this book! Please keep writing!!! The girls at Two Girls and a Book Obsession are FORVER fans!
Here’s what Alicia has to say…
“Ten years ago he killed my son. Today I married him…”
Jesse and Tom were best friends… until one night Tom killed Jesse. Fast forward ten years Tom is about to be released from prison. His mom, Jill believes her son is finally coming home to her, little does she know that 6 months prior to being released, Tom married Bridget – Jesse’s MUM!!!
K.L. Slater has written a rollercoaster of a book that will keep you on your toes right up until the last page. There are twists and turns that you won’t expect and will have you questioning everything and everyone. Can Bridget forgive Jill? Can Jill forgive Bridget? Can Tom survive outside of Prison? What, if anything does Tom’s dad have to do with all the twists and turns?
The story is told from all different POV and from different years. You get to see how Tom, Bridget and Jill all feel about the same situations but from different perspectives. The Marriage definitely takes you through situations you are not sure what to think. Who can you trust? Can you really trust anyone? Who is telling the truth? Who is lying and what is their motive. If you are looking for an exciting psychological thriller, this is the book for you. Thank you @Bookouture for the ARC!
