Greetings Book Lovers everywhere! Two Girls and a Book Obsession is most giddy to announce our first in a long line of award winning, edge-of-your-seat writing, best selling author Q&A’s!!!!

Please help us welcome Ms. Ruth Ware, author of Psychological Thrillers, “In the Dark Dark Wood”, best selling “Woman in Cabin 10” and just released July 2017, “The Lying Game”!

Ruth Ware was born in West Sussex England in 1977 and graduated from Manchester University. She has worked as a waitress, a bookseller, a teacher, and a press officer.

We asked her some questions that we believe revealed what her fans would love to know about her. Ruth Ware is one of our favorites and we highly recommend her books for suspense loving psychological thriller enthusiasts!

Drum Roll…

Q. If you were stranded on a desert island and you were told that you could bring ONE book, what book would it be? Why?

A. A notebook! A really big one. I love reading but I think what would keep me sane is being able to write and tell my own story.

Q. coffee or tea, wine or beer?

A. Coffee and wine. Every time.

Q. what’s your favorite 90’s jam?

A. I’m a 90s kid so this is hard as there are like a hundred contenders. Possibly Say Something by James? I might have said Where is My Mind by the Pixies but I’m pretty sure that’s late 80s.

Q. If you could be a guest character in one of your own books, which would it be? Which part of story would you appear?

A. I’m too much of a wuss for any of my books. Are you kidding?! Terrible things happen to people and they have a habit of ending up dead. I’d love to go on a cruise around Norway so in terms of setting it would probably have to be Cabin 10, but not the maiden voyage, thanks!

Q. Where does your inspiration for characters come from?

A. Oh, gosh, everywhere! Snippets of conversations I’ve overhead, movies I’ve watched, people I know or have seen in passing, imagined version of myself… I’ve never lifted a character wholesale from somewhere though. They are all stitched together versions of lots of different people.

Q. What was/is the most challenging part of the writing process? Why?

A. Every book is different. Sometimes it’s beginning. Sometimes it’s ending. Sometimes it’s the editing. It’s more about what’s happening in your own life than the book itself, I think, but some books are just hard to write full stop.

Q. If you could travel back in time, what advice would you give your teenage self?

A. Keep reading and keep writing – one day you’re going to have the courage to show it to someone other than your best friend, and maybe even make a living from it!

Q. Describe something that completely grosses you out. Why?

A. Um… I have quite a strong stomach in terms of like, I’m not grossed out by cuts or raw meat or physical stuff. I suppose what disgusts me is mostly the behaviour of people in power. Human beings are the best… and the worst.

Q. Can you give your fans a sneak peak at what your working on next? What we might expect…

A. I’m editing book 4 at the moment. It’s about a girl who receives a letter saying she has inherited a huge bequest, but quickly realises it wasn’t meant for her and then decides to claim the inheritance. It doesn’t have a title yet but it will be out summer 2018. It’s proving great fun to write!
