Charlotte Davis is in pieces. At seventeen she’s already lost more than most people lose in a lifetime. But she’s learned how to forget. The broken glass washes away the sorrow until there is nothing but calm. You don’t have to think about your father and the river. Your best friend, who is gone forever. Or your mother, who has nothing left to give you.
Every new scar hardens Charlie’s heart just a little more, yet it still hurts so much. It hurts enough to not care anymore, which is sometimes what has to happen before you can find your way back from the edge.
This is a story about a girl left bloody and half deaf at a mental hospital because of her cutting. She tales us the story of her journey and her experiences at the hospital until the money runs out and she is forced out into the world where she has to learn to live and recover on her own.
We follow her as she goes west to her friend because she is unwanted by her mother. She meets good friends and people as broken as her. She gets a job and her first place as she makes her way to the life and meaning she needs. It’s a book full of emotion, feelings, hurt and healing.
I absolutely loved this book! I couldn’t put it down! I strongly recommend everyone to read it! so easy to get lost in this story to feel it. looking forward to so much more from this gifted author Kathleen Glasgow’s first book Girl in Pieces was such a great YA story of damage, strength and overcoming.
