Hooked from page 1! Alex Sinclair’s writing style made this a gripping read from the start. The alternating time periods between “before” and “after” along with short chapters made how the plot unraveled so suspenseful! The very first scene in the story is how Emma’s story actually ends but Sinclair only offers enough detail for the reader to want to keep reading!
Emma is trapped by her own blocked thoughts about what happened on the night in question…the night that landed her in a psychiatric hospital! She knows something awful happened but her mind has blocked it out! Now she has to remain in a psychiatric hospital until she comes to the conclusion on her own. She can’t figure out why her husband Darren and her 14 year old son Jayden aren’t visiting her. Was what she did that unforgivable? Her nightmares begin taking over and she soon feels like she belongs in an insane asylum! Tom, the shady orderly that wants more from Emma than she is willing to give, adds to her misery and dismay as well as hinders her progress.
After her estranged twin brother comes back into her life to make up for lost time, she begins to remember. Does her brother help her to heal or is his presence hindering her progress? Does she remember too much for her own good? Will her life ever be the same? When will she get to see her family again? Who can she trust? So many questions are left with answers niggling at your brain as you will race toward the end of this book to find out what Emma did that night!
The ending was a total shock factor! I had to keep closing down my kindle during the last 20% of the book because I didn’t want it to end! An excellent 5⭐️ read! We look forward to reading more from this author!
