Vanishing Acts by Jodi Picoult @jodipicoult #washingtonsquarepress ~ Publication 11-15-2005

How do you recover the past when it was never yours to lose?

Delia Hopkins has led a charmed life. Raised in rural New Hampshire by her beloved, widowed father, she now has a young daughter, a handsome fiancé, and her own search-and-rescue bloodhound, which she uses to find missing persons. But as Delia plans her wedding, she is plagued by flashbacks of a life she can’t recall…until a policeman knocks on her door, revealing a secret about herself that changes the world as she knows it—and threatens to jeopardize her future.

With Vanishing Acts, Jodi Picoult explores how life—as we know it—might not turn out the way we imagined; how the people we’ve loved and trusted can suddenly change before our very eyes; how the memory we thought had vanished could return as a threat. Once again, Picoult handles an astonishing and timely topic with understanding, insight, and compassion.

How far would you go to protect you daughter? Would you commit a crime? Would you assume a new life? Would you take her away from everything she once new and begin a again?

Andrew, loving father and grandfather, has always been there for everything in his daughter Delia’s life. Now, he’s a grandfather to Sophie and his love for her is just as unwavering. But one day, a knock at the door will change their lives forever. Family secrets are revealed, memories are rehashed, and the future seems bleak at best.

Like I have said in every Jodi Picoult book reviewed on our blog…she has an unbelievable talent for drawing the reader in and keeping them on the edge of their seats! Every issue she writes about is researched and written about on such an intricate level making the reader a part of every character’s story.

It is impossible to read this story and not bond with Andrew, Delia, Sophie, Erik, Fitz….😳 just incredible! Of course in perfect Jodi Picoult style, the end will send chills up and down your spine! Also like every Picoult story I’ve read, I will remember this plot long after this book is placed back on my shelf. Memorable, exciting, fantastically written, and completely enthralling! Two Girls and a Book Obsession LOVE Jodi Picoult!

Jodi Picoult is one of my all time favourite authours. Small Great Things was an excellent read which I read twice already. I can only hope that her latest release is just as brilliant as Small Great Things.
