Review

This was a very difficult book to read especially as the mother. The subject is chilling… child molestation is a horrifying topic. But Lucinda Berry has managed to tell this story from a very different perspective. Through Noah’s POV readers can’t help but feel a twinge of sorrow for him. He knows he has a problem, confesses to his parents, serves his time and realized that none of it mattered because he still has feelings he knows are wrong.

Adrienne, Noah’s mother, is torn apart to learn about what her son has done. She makes no excuses for him but remains loyal to him. She wants him to heal. She wants the therapy to work. She wants to know that her son is rehabilitated and will return to society as a productive member. She wants him to put the past to rest. It how can that happen when his father disowns him, outcasts him, and refuses to allow him back into the family after his time is served. He would never let him around his younger sister. Don’t blame him really.

This story unravels quickly and just when you think the plot can’t get thicker…. BAM! Wow. Lucinda Berry… that was a very clever ending. I never saw it coming!
