On the day of Lucas Martin’s funeral, his wife, Naomi, learns he was hiding a devastating secret.
One that may have cost him his life.
When two strangers approach her, Naomi realizes they could be hiding important clues as to what actually happened the day her husband died.
Was it an accident? Or something more sinister?
Determined to learn the truth, Naomi initiates another meeting with the strangers, in hopes that she’ll uncover the missing puzzle piece from the mysterious last day of her husband’s life.
As more secrets and lies begin to become clear, Naomi and the strangers find out they’re in a much more tangled web than they could’ve ever imagined. If she can trust them, she may be able to find the answers she so desperately seeks.
The only problem? Any one of them could be lying…just like Lucas was.
The biggest question is: who?

Ahhhhh…. Where to start with this deliciously fabulous and thrilling story written by the queen of plot twists, Kiersten Modglin…
Here is my overall personal observation of Kiersten’s writing (based on the many many books I have read)…
1) The cast of characters are intricately developed, meticulously written, and expertly revealed to make the reader bond with them immediately, hate them immediately, or root for them immediately… sometimes all of the above. It is this very thing that makes me love her books so much. The characters. I find myself reviewing her books by “talking directly to the characters” which is what makes me realize just how fabulously real she makes them to be.
2) Her writing style is intense, suspenseful, and thrilling. Her ability to create a plot that blows your mind and makes you read furiously is a huge talent, especially because some fanatic readers of thrillers can be easily bored when the same story is told multiple times by different authors. Kiersten’s stories are unique and FULL of unexpected twists.
With those two general reviews about her writing being said, let me talk specifically about this story, “My husband’s Secret” by addressing the characters directly…(see #1 above)
Dear Naomi,
From the beginning of chapter 1, I felt for you. I felt like you got the shit end of the deal. Obviously, having a dead husband is enough for anyone to disagree, but add to that… your husband’s two girlfriends show up to the funeral? Ugh. Then, flashbacks to before his death revealed that he was kind of a big jerk. I didn’t understand why you gave him so many chances! I mean handsome doctor and all… yes but broke handsome doctor… ehhhhh…. Not so much. You deserve better girl!! And so does Becca! Get a grip! You definitely redeem yourself though… nicely played!
Dear Clara,
Twelves years ago, you think you’ve met the love of your life but you are conflicted by his noncommittal attitude and geez… how many excuses are you willing to accept. Pssshhhh… definitely NOT worth it! You are an attractive doctor and an independent woman! You deserve better girl! Get a grip! You definitely redeem yourself though…nicely played!
Dear Alaina,
Two years ago, you meet the perfect guy. Handsome, successful, committed…. Record scratch…. Uh… no. If you care AT. ALL. About your unborn child, you’d see right through that BS! You are a successful artist, you have your own place, you are beautiful and have more to offer. You deserve better girl! Get a grip! You definitely redeem yourself though… nicely played!
Dear Luke, Lukey, Dr. Martin, asshole… whatever your name is,
Dude… you are not all that. You are bound to be found out eventually! Maybe? But seriously… what are your thinking? As the story unravels, I’d be lying if I said that I didn’t hate you more and more. You did however have an uncanny ability to redeem yourself. But, did your know better? Should your upbringing be considered when readers critique your character? Do you have good reason to lie and deceive those in your life? Well… I’ll let readers make their own decision on that one.
And of course in perfect Kiersten style… the way she ties the ending together is just perfect. THIS is what sets apart her books from others!
Readers… you definitely don’t want to miss out on reading this Kiersten book. As always, she doesn’t disappoint! Stay tuned for more reviews on Kiersten’s books! Happy reading!
